Mechanical Testing Service

Purpose
To determine the tensile properties of polymer matrix composites.

Significance and Use
This test method produces tensile property data for material specifications, research and development, quality assurance, and structural design and analysis.

Test Specimens
As per ASTM D3039-17, a constant rectangular cross-section of 25 mm (1 in.) wide, 250 mm (10 in.) long, and 3 mm (0.1 in.) is prepared for testing the tensile properties.

Report
1. Complete identification of the material tested.
2. Type of test specimen and dimensions, and loading rate
3. Load–displacement relationship, raw data, and table.
4. Failure mode and location of failure.

Vibration Testing Service

Purpose
To determine the Young’s modulus of the test specimen using dynamic approach.

Significance and Use
This test method is designed to evaluate Young’s modulus of the specimen for research and development, quality assurance and structural design and analysis.

Test Specimens
The specimen size should be selected so that, for an estimated young’s modulus, the resonant frequencies measured will fall within the range of sensors and electronics used. However, the ratio of length to minimum cross-sectional dimension shall have a value of minimum 5 for calculation.

Ex: Length = 150 mm, Width = 50 mm, Thickness = 5 mm

Report
1. Dynamic resonant frequency of the test specimen
2. Young’s modulus of the test specimen

Non Destructive Testing Service

Non Destructive Testing Service

Purpose
To inspect the weld cracks in welded joint by using liquid penetrant test.

Significance and Use
This test method is designed to evaluate welded cracks of the specimen for research and development, quality assurance and structural design and analysis.

Test Specimens
The specimen size should be selected so that, for identification of cracks, the surface is cleaned with the help of cleaner, liquid penetrant applied on the surface and developer is applied to identify the defects.

Ex: Welded Materials

Report
1. Identify the cracks and defects of the test specimen
